Fried Green Tomatoes

It's finally time to have some of these fabulous fried green tomatoes.  I absolutely love fried green tomatoes. 

Ingredients:

  • 4 to 6 green tomatoes
  • salt and pepper
  • cornmeal
  • olive or vegetable oil

Preparation:

Slice the tomatoes into 1/4 - 1/2-inch slices. Salt and pepper them to taste. Dip in meal or take a freezer bag full of cornmeal and tumble to get them well coated then fry in skillet of  oil about 3 minutes or until golden on bottom. Gently turn and fry the other side. Serve as a side dish.

This is what my tomatoes look like today just before I plucked these from the vine.  This is one of the only times my husband will hang out in the kitchen.
